AMICAE AUXILIARY
HISTORY
In the 1940s, graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta began to realize the importance of the prestige, good-will, and cooperation of women, whom for various reasons, were not members of any Greek-letter organization, but believed in and wanted to support the ideals of Zeta. For this reason, the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary, also known as “Friends of Zeta”, was formed in 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska making Zeta the first sorority to organize an auxiliary group. The Zeta Amicae are sponsored by a Zeta graduate chapter, but functions independently as its own organization parallel to the graduate chapter.
